Wow! 3 "decades" in...just kidding but thirty weeks! Wow, I'm excited! I'm ever so grateful to everyone who supports my writing and my hopes in making Faces of Silicon Valley, a more inclusive online environment.
1) New of News! My last blog posts mentioned creating a news broadcast or a news show for every week. I have the basics figured out on Canva. But I'm still trying to brainstorm ways to portray all important information without going overtime (my limit is five to seven minutes ) but so far the introduction to the video is turning out to be pretty exciting! Let me know in the comments if you guys have any idea/experience creating a news broadcast/show! I'll be happy to reach out and collaborate with you. Any help you give us will be credited if published!
Additionally, as a reader any ideas on how to make news/blog posts/or any other aspects of this website, more interesting? Feel free to respond to these questions, appropriately in the comments.
2) More About the News: I'm working on creating a "weekly broadcast" to go along with the Faces of Silicon Valley News! Any ideas or tips! I've already built the "Pilot," episode on Canva, but I'm looking to see better, free platforms to create it on! As of now, I'm just including the usual news, but let me know if you guys would enjoy funny tidbits. At our school, we have a weekly broadcast and sometimes there are funny things included like campus questions. So I was thinking, I could feature the top three comments from the previous week's blog posts, and use that. Also, if we go further into this project, how man of you would enjoy having the video links embedded within the blog posts, or would you prefer a separate page for these "episodes?" So many questions! I might send out a poll to our weekly readers.
3) Blog Stuff: Blog topics! And should I send out a poll for this? Let me know in the comments! :)
4) Types of Learners Quiz: I have created those quizzes on both Python and Scratch. However, my last computer where the Python code was saved is facing some technical difficulties, so I may have to recode that before I can share it with all of you. Additionally, I'm still finding out ways to share the Scratch Project, I might just send my finished product and share the tutorial at a later time. Creating tutorials take a lot of time. Which is why I've decided to create a series of blog posts for next month or so. The blog posts will mostly be covering tutorials on how to code your own quizzes and games with the examples being the Types of Learners Quiz. So it'll be another one of my infamous editions!
4) Writing Stuff: If you have any writing you'd like our team to take a look at it, send it to us, using the Contact Us Page, or if you're more comfortable, just comment it down below! :)
5) Commenting: Please feel free to comment your ideas, thoughts, comments, or just about anything appropriate! We're happy to connect with more people! This is actually really easy to do! All you have to do is click on one of our blog posts and make a comment! We even have a "Comment Prompt" feature, where you can respond, and share your thoughts. This feature is usually found at the end of blog posts! In fact, last week I left some pretty inquisitive comments about some new steps I want to bring to Faces of Silicon Valley, please check those out, and let me know your thoughts ASAP! Did you know that ASAP mean as soon as possible. I found that out in second grade, let us know in the comments how you discovered it! Moving on, it's always good to respond to the comment prompt, and share your thoughts. This way we can ensure that everyone has a voice and we'll be able to forge and connect new communities!! So make sure to comment, even if a week has passed! We will still be happy to reply to your thoughts and connect with you! I actually went on an entire tangent on how to navigate comments, here, at the bottom: https://free-5178417.webadorsite.com/blog/2276799_week-25
Speaking of features, remember our "Random Facts!" Somewhere in our blog post, we share a random fact! Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for one of those! Let us know if you have any thoughts on the random facts! And remember, if you or someone you know would like to be involved in Faces of Silicon Valley's Interview Process, just let us know, and we'll be happy to get back to you!
6) Interviews: This is such a big and pivotal part of our website, it's how we connect with others! Please contact me if you'd like to be interviewed! Remember, your age or occupation doesn't matter! We've met with star athletes and at the other end of the spectrum, future scientists and musicians! If you don't what I'm talking about, I highly advise you to check out their stories on our Community Stories Page! Remember, you can be featured just like them! We make sure that all our interviewee applicants get a chance to share their stories at some point! Whether that be tomorrow or in a couple of weeks, we'll try out hardest to ensure that you will get a change to be a part of our journey!
So as a review, you can be interviewed, if you're a student, a worker, a cook, a young or old entrepreneur! Basically if you want to share your story with the community, here at Faces of Silicon Valley! We'd love to hear your story! Just contact us using our interview application process: https://forms.gle/CAGsioU2V2QaLeCo8 or using our Contact Us Page!
7) New Page_Gallery Glimpse!: This should be the last of our first 2025 Faces of Silicon Valley News! With the edition of a new year comes a new page! I love taking photos, especially of nature, cool buildings, flowers, animals, art, and pretty much anything else! So I decided to share this, in hopes to create a platform where not only I can share my photos, but many other aspiring and talented photographers can share their work too!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~now, into the prose~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
see the plot twist...i usually publish poetry! :)
but i decided to try my hand at prose, and it's a bit of a solemn poem, but I'm curious to see everyone's reactions! :)
to check it out on another platform, try Young Writers' Project: https://youngwritersproject.org/explore/writing/bus-thoughts
here it is :
bus thoughts:
I envy those who’ve never known Loneliness.
She is not just empty space—she’s a presence,
cold fingers brushing the back of your neck
when no one’s watching.
She feeds on silence, on the ache that lingers after goodbye.
We passed a field—wide, green, untouched.
A single Canada goose stood in the grass,
still as a statue.
We’re not so different,
him and I.
Loneliness found us both.
But maybe
she’s kinder to him—
maybe he chose her.
Maybe she’s a blessing in disguise
when you don't expect more.
Maybe she and I
were meant to walk together.
Maybe I was never meant to know
what it feels like
to have a best friend—
someone who laughs with me,
not at me;
someone who sings the same off-key songs
and still calls them beautiful.
It sounds like a dream—
and maybe that’s why
I’ve never found it.
Because I don’t believe in dreams.
I believe in what I see.
This poem is a story, I've always wanted to tell. I've always wanted a best friend and someone who gets me. Recently, when we went on a school trip, I realized how much that's missing from me. As I got older, I finally stopped waiting for someone who was perfect to come and be my friend. Being alone on my own in the real world, really got me thinking. So, I wrote this poem, on my iphone in the Notes app while driving to the airport, on my way home.
Comment Prompt:
1) Any similar experiences, please share! I'd love to connect!
2) Any of your own writing? Please share, we'd love to review!
3) Any constructive criticism/ feedback?
4) If you need someone to talk to because you're alone, don't be afraid to find that someone. If you have difficulty, don't hesitate to reach out to the wonderful community at Faces of Silicon Valley. It's not perfect, but we care!
5) What's your favorite type of duck?
6) What's your take on TV's in buses/cars? I ask because the bus mentioned in this poem had a T.V but we never used it. Meanwhile, ever car I know of that has a T.V. always uses the T.V. I'm interested in others' takes in this.
7) Last topic!!!! Is this prose or poetry?
That's the lucky seven! Thanks for listening! See you next week!
