Writing/Poetry:
Hi Everyone! Welcome to Week-31!!!! As the new year, approaches I am excited to introduce a new change to Faces of Silicon Valley. Unfortunately with the new year, my schedule has become too packed to write weekly blogs :(((((
Luckily, I am really happy to continue writing with Faces of Silicon Valley? So what does this mean? Am I going to stop publishing, or what? I will continue publishing my blogs and community stories! The only difference? The publishing of our blog has now moved to a monthly-base of publishing. So instead of every week, I'll be publishing a new blog post every month. What are some other changes? With the reduction of blog posts (a change only in motion, until my schedule clears up), I will begin focusing on other aspects of Faces of Silicon Valley, more! I'll start adding more frequent posts to Galley Glimpse, and will be working on a new feature! I will also focus more on user feedback, so if you guys have any ideas or thoughts to make this website, even more engaging and interesting, let me know!!! Speaking of how to let me know, let's dive into the news (where I'll share how to contact me!)-
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~NEWS!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) News of News! I've mentioned creating a news broadcast or a news show for every week. I have FINALLY completed a mockup of what the video will look like on Canva! Yay! But if there's any other ideal, low-budget platforms that you'd like me to explore, let me know! Another thing that could use your input: how should I portray the news in five minutes, to make it catchy, informative but concise?
Let me know in the comments if you guys have any idea/experience creating a news broadcast/show! I'll be happy to reach out and collaborate with you. Any help you give us will be credited if published!
Additionally, as a reader any ideas on how to make news/blog posts/or any other aspects of this website, more interesting? Feel free to respond to these questions, appropriately in the comments.
2) More About the News: I'm working on creating a "weekly broadcast" to go along with the Faces of Silicon Valley News! Any ideas or tips! I've already built the "Pilot," episode on Canva, but I'm looking to see better, free platforms to create it on! As of now, I'm just including the usual news, but let me know if you guys would enjoy funny tidbits. At our school, we have a weekly broadcast and sometimes there are funny things included like campus questions. So I was thinking, I could feature the top three comments from the previous week's blog posts, and use that. Also, if we go further into this project, how man of you would enjoy having the video links embedded within the blog posts, or would you prefer a separate page for these "episodes?" So many questions! So look out for a poll, soon!
3) Blog Stuff: Blog topics! And should I send out a poll for this? Let me know in the comments! :)
4) Types of Learners Quiz: Here's the Scratch Project! :)
https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1147821098/
Share any feedback or suggestions with me! Feel free to connect on Scratch, as well! I've always loved Scratch, it's such a fun place to create games and play others' games! For these reasons, I will forever be grateful to the Lifelong Kindergarten group at the MIT Media Lab, led by Professor Mitchel Resnick. Sadly, I wasn't able to share the Python version of this code, which would've been more applicable in the "real-world," but I'm working to back that code up. Updates soon!
4) Writing Stuff: If you have any writing you'd like our team to take a look at it, send it to us, using the Contact Us Page, or if you're more comfortable, just comment it down below! :)
5) Commenting: Please feel free to comment your ideas, thoughts, comments, or just about anything appropriate! We're happy to connect with more people! This is actually really easy to do! All you have to do is click on one of our blog posts and make a comment! We even have a "Comment Prompt" feature, where you can respond, and share your thoughts. This feature is usually found at the end of blog posts! In fact, last week I left some pretty inquisitive comments about some new steps I want to bring to Faces of Silicon Valley, please check those out, and let me know your thoughts ASAP! Did you know that ASAP mean as soon as possible. I found that out in second grade, let us know in the comments how you discovered it! Moving on, it's always good to respond to the comment prompt, and share your thoughts. This way we can ensure that everyone has a voice and we'll be able to forge and connect new communities!! So make sure to comment, even if a week has passed! We will still be happy to reply to your thoughts and connect with you! I actually went on an entire tangent on how to navigate comments, here, at the bottom: https://free-5178417.webadorsite.com/blog/2276799_week-25
Speaking of features, remember our "Random Facts!" Somewhere in our blog post, we share a random fact! Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for one of those! THESE CAN BE ANYWHERE IN THE BLOG POST! Use the contact form, to let me know if you found it and there'll be a special prize [if you're right]! And remember, if you or someone you know would like to be involved in Faces of Silicon Valley's Interview Process, just let us know, and we'll be happy to get back to you!
6) Interviews: This is such a big and pivotal part of our website, it's how we connect with others! Please contact me if you'd like to be interviewed! Remember, your age or occupation doesn't matter! We've met with star athletes and at the other end of the spectrum, future scientists and musicians! If you don't what I'm talking about, I highly advise you to check out their stories on our Community Stories Page! Remember, you can be featured just like them! We make sure that all our interviewee applicants get a chance to share their stories at some point! Whether that be tomorrow or in a couple of months, we'll try out hardest to ensure that you will get a change to be a part of our journey!
So as a review, you can be interviewed, if you're a student, a worker, a cook, a young or old entrepreneur! Basically if you want to share your story with the community, here at Faces of Silicon Valley! We'd love to hear your story! Just contact us using our interview application process: https://forms.gle/CAGsioU2V2QaLeCo8 or using our Contact Us Page!
7) New Page_Gallery Glimpse!: Check out this page, it's new! I guarantee you'll enjoy it!! Contact me to add to it!
Introduction to this week's post!
If you may or may not have heard, already, but this post is a poem! It's part of my writing edition! I wrote this post almost entirely spontaneously, then shared it online with the Young Writers' Project Community, and the response was very positive! For those reasons, I decided to share it here, so I could learn about your thoughts!
Context About the Poem: It's called pensées sur le chou-fleur, which is French for Cauliflower Thoughts. Now, earlier I mentioned that this poem was wrote entirely spontaneously. That's true! I was making one of my favorite dishes, Roasted Cauliflower with Special Seasoning. It may sound like a simple dish but this dish holds more value for me. For me, this dish was the first dish I ever cooked by myself, I've always seen it as a rite of passage into the realms of cooking. My family seems to enjoy it, and so during my free time, I tend to cook it more often! During one such occasion, the cauliflower was cooking in the oven, and I decided to jot down the recipe on my phone. But it turned into something more; a poem. During this time, I remember feeling particularly stressed, so as always writing was a way for me to vent out those feelings. So pensées sur le chou-fleur, is a combination of a heartfelt poem along with a recipe. I hope you enjoy! :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
pensées sur le chou-fleur
cut the cauliflower, as they cut you
wash the cauliflower, when you wash away your sorrow
sprinkle pepper
sprinkle salt
sprinkle cheese
sprinkle love & home, until it's enough
mix & mingle, as you'll do forever,
even when you don't feel like mixing and mingling
pour olive oil, it adds flavor
what's life, if it has no taste?
let it simmer in the oven,
taste it — is it enough?
//Note: The title came from Google Translate, which says it translates to Cauliflower Thoughts, I felt like food names always look and sound more aesthetically pleasing if it's in French, so correct me if the translation is wrong. Thanks!

Comment Prompt:
1) Comment an idea for a miscellaneous blog post that you'd like me to go in-depth on! Maybe I'll write about it! Just let us know in the comments below! :)
2) What are your thoughts on the poem? What does it remind you of?
3) How can this poem be improved?
4) As you know, this poem is a "recipe," it originates from one of my favorite dishes to cook, what are your favorite dishes to cook? What do these dishes remind you off?
4) Share your own writing, as long as it's appropriate, I say that with a smile, but please be aware, that we have many teenagers coming to our website, so we want a healthy and positive environment! :)
